The University of Denver has been inspired and energized by a rare brand of commitment and philanthropy for more than 150 years. In 1864, the school that would become DU literally stood on the frontier – of the nation, of 19th century knowledge, of belief in the power of learning on the edge of tomorrow. A century and a half later, thanks to the generosity of generations, we remain on the frontier – of discovery, of teaching, of providing vital solutions to issues challenging our community and our world.
Our three central giving societies – Crimson & Gold Society, Spire Society, and the Pioneer Legacy Society – were created to recognize the tremendous generosity of our community. Each level of support and every gift allows the University of Denver to continue along this journey, pioneering the future of higher education and creating meaningful impact in our communities and around the globe.

Kirkpatrick Gift Funds Early Literacy Efforts
Taylor Kirkpatrick (International MBA ‘04) believes that books are for everyone. He also believes that access to books and early literacy programs can contribute to children’s — and their families’ — overall well-being. Those beliefs were the driving force behind Kirkpatrick’s recent $500,000 gift, which builds on his previous philanthropy, to bolster DU’s efforts to reach children and families in the community with high-quality, evidence-based early literacy programming and resources. -

Bucksbaums’ $2.5 Million Gift Accelerates Adventure at Kennedy Mountain Campus
Through the generosity of John (BA ’78) and Jacolyn Bucksbaum, students at the University of Denver will have the setting, equipment, and training to say yes to adventure at the University of Denver’s James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus. The Bucksbaums’ $2.5 million gift establishes and equips the John and Jacolyn Bucksbaum Family Outdoor Gateway at the Kennedy Mountain Campus.
